Episode 08: From Rockstar to Redeemed—One Man’s 20-Year Road to Redemption
In this episode, I asked my husband, Ron, to talk about his conversion to the Church. It took him over 20 years before he finally opened his heart and received the blessings of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ.
Ron's story gives hope to everyone who is currently in a part-member family or who has loved ones who have strayed away from the covenant path. Ron's road to redemption was neither smooth nor easy, but it was miraculous.
Ron's advice:
Be patient.
Live the gospel.
Invite them to “Come and See” and “Come and Help.”
Remember this: Ron said, “No,” many times, but it only took one "Yes!"
My advice:
Do everything you can to bring the Spirit into your home.
One step forward and three steps back is still ONE STEP FORWARD!
I cannot tell you how many nights I pleaded with the Lord not to give up on Ron. To keep knocking! Then one night, the Lord said, It's not me you need to worry about. I need you to never give up on Ron.Have faith, and recognize that the Lord will send angels to help you. Ron’s angels were mortals willing to respond to promptings.
If your goal is to have a Celestial marriage, then start treating your marriage as if it is already a Celestial marriage --- and treat your partner as though they are already a Celestial being. Picture them in the temple, and hold onto that vision. \
Miracles really do happen. Prayers really are answered. And hearts really can change.
DO ONE THING
This week’s small and simple DO ONE THING Invitation is to look for opportunities to have a “Come and See” or a “Come and Help” conversation with someone.
One way we can do this is to look around and see if there is a need in your neighborhood. Ask your non-member family member or friend to help you fill that need. In my area, there is an urgent need for masks, so sisters are picking up kits and making them at home. This is a perfect opportunity to ask your neighbor to come and help.
