Episode 07: Are We Predestined to Succeed or Fail?
Welcome to Edified, the podcast for busy LDS women who are looking for ways to draw closer to the Spirit and deepen their connection to Christ. In a word? This podcast is about connection. Our connection to each other, and our connection to Christ.
This week’s episode is about redefining “success” by the Lord’s standards, rather than the world’s. It’s not always easy, but great things seldom are right?
There ARE times when our obstacles are insurmountable, but more often than not, the obstacles we encounter ARE ones we can overcome if we’re willing to put in the work.
Two essential questions:
(1) What is the work that is required to overcome our obstacles?
(2) Are we willing to do it? Is what we feel called to do, worth the effort that’s required?
God honors our efforts.
“And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.” Romans 8:28
The idea that we are predestined to be successful is another big fat lie that the adversary wants us to believe. He wants us to feel isolated and disconnected from each other and from God. Why? Because HE is isolated and disconnected from God. And he knows he will be for eternity. And he wants us to be miserable like he is.
Our obstacles don’t need to define us and they don’t need to stop us.
If you take nothing else from this message, I hope you will take away the assurance that you are called to share. And by doing so, you will help to light the world and make it a little lovelier and a little brighter.
DO ONE THING
Think about the obstacles that keep you from moving forward in doing the thing you feel called to do. Then ask yourself:
(1) What is the work that is required to overcome my obstacles? You may want to make a list defining exactly what the work entails.
(2) Am I willing to do it? Is what you feel called to do, worth the effort that’s required?
By doing this, you’ll be better able to know what is the best next step for you to take in order to move forward.
