Episode 42: God Will Do Something Unimaginable

When I began the road back to the church, I told myself I could never dare dream of someday being exalted. All I would allow myself to hope for was entrance into God’s kingdom. But you know what? God had something else in mind for me.

Jesus didn’t atone for only a portion of my sins, and He didn’t pay the price for my mistakes using a 20% off coupon. He descended below it all so He could raise me up. I’m so amazed by His Grace!

We don’t worship a part-time God. And we don’t place our trust in a God with limited powers. I am living proof that when we put our trust in Jesus Christ, God will do something unimaginable with us. And that’s exactly the focus of today’s episode.

This week, I am happy to have as my special guest, artist Cali Grimshaw. Cali is my neighbor and friend. She is an oil painter who loves painting landscapes and has taught oil painting to others for nearly 25 years.  She's also a pianist, devoted lap swimmer, mother of 3 and grandmother of 8.  She enjoys writing and wrote a humor column for an on-line magazine for several years.  She also wrote a curriculum and taught at the SUU Institute of Religion.  She has a long history of service in the church in ward and stake positions including two stints as Ward Relief Society President.  Cali was born in Monterey, California and grew up in Utah and Oregon.  She has lived in Chicago, New Jersey, Salt Lake City, and now Cedar City.  She loves the Oregon Coast, Zion National Park and spending time with her grandchildren in her own backyard! Cali is married to our stake Patriarch, so she has witnessed first hand how God can do something unimaginable with each of us.

I asked Cali to be my guest not only because of her vast background with the gospel, but because she is an artist. Don’t let her humble demeanor fool you--I’ve seen her artwork first hand and she is incredible! I’ve also seen what she has been able to accomplish with some of her students. Her work is truly inspiring.

Cali speaks the language of creation--and when I think of God doing something unimaginable with our lives, I picture Him as the Master Creator making more of us than we could ever imagine on our own.
